About Us

The Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities, known as The Bessie Benner Metzenbaum Center, was founded in 1966 to provide services and supports to individuals in Geauga County who have developmental disabilities. Today, our main priority is still enhancing those individuals’ lives through our services. These services begin at birth, continue with preschool and school programs and last through adulthood. Services including Early Intervention Programs, Adult Services, Case Management, an Intermediate Care Facility and Transportation services help make Metzenbaum a wonderful community of caring individuals. The Metzenbaum Center currently supports more than 800 individuals and their families in Geauga County by helping them live, learn and earn in our community.
