Inclusion
For those of you who have children currently enrolled as a Role Model Student in a Special Education Preschool Classroom or Early Intervention classroom,(Inclusion Program),or those who live in Geauga County who are interested, we will begin accepting applications for these programs for the 2010/2011 school year beginning March 1 - March 12. Open Enrollment for the community will begin March 15, 2010. For your convenience, you may print the application forms listed below. At this website, you are able to retrieve an application but one can not apply online.

INCLUSION PROGRAM POLICIES
2010- 2011
1. The purpose of the program is to create a positive learning experience for children with disabilities and typical role models from the community. The learning environment is play based and aligned with the Ohio Department of Education’s Early Learning Content Standards in the areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. Students in Preschool classrooms are enrolled with students that have special needs
2. There may be up to 8 children with disabilities in a classroom as determined by the administration. The maximum enrollment is a total of 16 children in the classroom. A full day preschool program (five days) may consist of half day with two different teachers/classes.
3. The Preschool Program will include three to five years old. Preschool enrollees must be three years of age by September 1, 2010
4. All four to six year old preschool enrollees MUST be toilet-trained by the start of the school year. NO pull-ups or diapers.
5. All students must have required paperwork for enrollment completed and turned into the Metzenbaum Center prior to the first day of school. This includes a physical examination, emergency medical release and current immunizations.
6. Role models in the Inclusion Program are expected to demonstrate age appropriate skills. There will be a six week evaluation period. If there are concerns such as: not being toilet-trained, needing an excessive amount of individual support and re-direction, excessive inappropriate behaviors, a meeting will be scheduled to determine further options for the child.
7. If a student is to be released to someone other than the parents, the teacher must be notified in writing and the person picking the child up will be asked to show their Driver’s License when they arrive.
8. Students for the new school year are accepted until January 31, 2011. We do not accept applications after January 31, 2011.
9. Applications must include a $15.00 application fee which is non-refundable and should be hand delivered or mailed to: Metzenbaum School, Attn: SuAnne Gubanyar, 8200 Cedar Road, Chesterland, OH 44026. All applications will be logged by the postmark date and time. We try to accommodate all applications. If the number of applications exceeds available slots, applicants will be placed on a waiting list.
10. TUITION FEES: Please note prices have changed for Preschool
Five full Day: $280.00 (per child)
Five half Day: $140.00 (per child)
Four full Day: $224.00 (per child)
Four half Day: $112.00 (per child)
Payments are due on the 1st of each month. If payment is not made by the 5th of the month, a reminder will be sent home requesting remittance or arrangements will be made by the office. Please make checks payable to: Metzenbaum School. Payments are to be made to the school office or mailed directly to: The Metzenbaum Center, 8200 Cedar Rd., Chesterland, OH 44026. If you are unable to make payments, your child’s slot may be relinquished.
11. We are happy to serve Inclusion Students in the following way:
Preschool Program (Sept– June) Times are as follows:
Five full days: Monday-Friday 9:00 am-11:30am for half days
Five half days: Monday-Friday 12:15 pm-2:45 pm for half days
Four full days: Monday-Thurs. 9:00 am- 2:45 pm for full day
Four half days: Monday-Thurs.
For all Preschool parents:
Pick up time is 11:30 am and 2:45 pm. Unless there is an extreme emergency, there will be a $5.00 charge for every 15 increment that the child is not picked up by the specific pick up time.
Transportation is not provided for the Inclusion Program.
12. The Preschool Inclusion students start date will be approximately Sept. 6, 2010.
