Community Residential Services Administration: In addition to a 40 bed Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) the Metzenbaum Center also supports more than 80 individuals living in small community settings.
These individuals are served with Supported Living, and/or Medicaid funds through the Individual Options (IO) waiver. Additionally, nearly 30 individuals are enrolled on the Level One Waiver, which offers expanded in-home supports to families who care for an individual with developmental disabilities in the family home. Those individuals receiving supports in the community or in their homes choose certified providers to provide the services that are identified in the Individual Service Plan (ISP) and approved by the Service and Support Administrator (SSA) of the county board.
The SSA staff and administrators of the Community Support Services Department work closely with the Supported Living, Individual Options and Level One Waiver Providers. SSA staff assist individuals and/or their guardians to choose their providers of services. Quarterly meetings of Supported Living and Waiver Providers are held at the county board, and are open to all providers in order to share information and to offer mutual support in the delivery of services.
The county board also works closely with Maple Leaf Community Residences, Inc. (MLCRI). This organization was created to locate, purchase, and maintain small community houses for individuals with developmental disabilities on Supported Living and IO Waivers. Currently MLCRI maintains 16 homes throughout Geauga County. The houses are purchased with funds from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (ODODD) and the Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (GCBDD). GCBDD contracts with MLCRI to act as landlord to the individuals living in the homes. More information about MLCRI is available on its website at http://www.mlcr.org/.
